Cathie Carnes Johnson, age 68, affectionately known as "Ma", died Thursday, January 28, 2010 in a Florence hospital. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Southside Free Will Baptist Church directed by Belk Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Saturday, 12:30 until time of service in the church fellowship hall.
Graveside services in Roseland Park, Berkeley, Michigan, 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 2, with visitation beginning at 1:00 until service time.
Mrs. Johnson was born in Detroit, MI, the daughter of the late Albert and Hassie Violet Moseley Carnes. "Ma" was a talented pianist, an avid reader and loved people, flowers, gardening, music, and travel. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She attended Southside Free Will Baptist Church and more recently, Christ Apostolic Church.
Surviving are her husband, David Johnson: daughter, Sandra (David) Cortes, grandson, David James Cortes, Jr., all of Darlington; sister, Pamela Joy Idyle of Plano, TX and niece and nephew, Suzanne Marie Idyle of Plano, TX; Darin Wayne Idyle of Sterling Heights, MI.
